John Wayne and Ann Dovark were the leading actors. “The Man from Barbary Coast.” I think this was the name but I’m not sure. It was a western picture but not the wild and wooly kind. A lot of mail came in today, but not much for me, all I got was March 12th issue of the Times. Hope I have better luck the next time. I was just reading in the Times about the cigarette shortage back in the States, according to it the black-market is causing all the shortage. They also said cigarettes were selling for $2.40 per carton, that sounds like too much money for me. We received our rations for March today, they cost 17 rupees 11 annas- We got three cartons of cigs, eleven candy bars, six cigars, three cans of nuts, writing tablet,one can of juice, one case of beer (Pabst) and a box of cookies. I traded my cigards for a writing tablet and my candy for fruit juice. I don’t care much for cigars or candy. I think I have enough writing paper to last me for a while, I asked you to send me some in yesterday’s letter, but I can always use it. It’s better to have too much than not enough. I just drank a can of my beer, it tastes pretty good since its cool - Goodnight darling, I love you more each day.
