Jack's Barber Shop
- Title
- Jack's Barber Shop
- Description
- Located originally in the Old Frankton Bank Building on the west side of Washington Street, next to Bauer's Grocery. Danny Cox is seated in the barber chair while Jack cuts his hair.
- The building was offered to Jack rent free for one year if he would come to town and open a Barber Shop. Gerald "Jack" Melling operated the Barber Shop in the 1960's, later taking a 6 year absence and returning to reopen in the Harper Furniture Store Building on the North side of Sigler Street, next to the Alley. Son Andy Melling joined his father in this location. Mr Melling retired, closing up shop in 2010. The building then housed a dog grooming business that was damaged by fire when the old Harper's Furniture building burned next door. The building was then torn down. Other barbers who operated shops in Frankton prior to Jack were Frank Webb and Fred Day.
